Overview:
Roboni-i is the world’s first fully programmable, gaming robot. 16 sensors, 4 processors, and RFID allow for unlimited play in single player, multiplayer, and online action gaming. Roboni-i is truly the pioneer in the advancement of today’s robotics.

Robot:
Roboni-i has 4 processors and 16 sensors. It makes use of an ATMEL ATmega 1281 processor with sufficient processing capacity to power the robot, its sensors and communication devices. Roboni-i communicates via ZigBee wireless technology with its remote and other robots. It can also interact with a PC through USB. The robot includes touch sensors at its front and rear bumpers and RFID technology allows it to read and write data to the different game accessories. Roboni-i also utilizes Infrared for situational awareness and for ‘shooting’ other robots or infrared-enabled accessories.

Controller:
Roboni-i’s controller uses an ATMEL ATmega 640 processor and communicates with the robot using ZigBee technology. It is ergonomically designed to fit comfortably in player’s hands and has a custom-made LCD screen for displaying game play status. The controller is designed with two buttons for steering the robot, and two trigger buttons at the front for selecting options or triggering events (e.g. to fire a laser). A slot allows for a dedicated reference card to be inserted for interpreting data displayed on the remote’s LCD.

Accessories:
The game accessories use a combination of RFID tags and infrared to interact with the robot. The RFID tags provide the necessary in-game functionality and visual feedback to the player’s controller. The infrared game accessories have been enhanced to visually communicate game state information (e.g. to act as an in-game timer).

Software Capabilities: 
The Roboni-i Starter Pack’s software gives you access to the extensive, user-friendly tutorial or the FAQ section and online support. The program editors allow you to modify / customize your robot’s behavior using a drag and drop programming interface. Edit or create new games with the Game Editor or download / upload new games and updates. The software also allows you exclusive access the Roboni-i Virtual World. View registered player’s profiles, ranks, and scores. Installing the software also allows you to register for competitions/tournaments and view tournament schedules online where you can compare opponent’s online tournament statistics, play patterns and competition tactics.
